William Morgan was an American architect born on March 5, 1930. He received his degree in architecture from the University of Florida before studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1958, he founded his own practice, William Morgan Architects, which became known for its modernist designs that incorporated elements of regional architecture.
Morgan's work was primarily focused on residential and commercial projects in the Gulf Coast region of Florida, where he lived and worked for much of his career. He was known for his innovative use of materials and his ability to create spaces that were sensitive to their surroundings.
Throughout his career, Morgan received numerous awards and honors, including the American Institute of Architects' highest honor, the AIA Gold Medal, in 2017. He passed away on March 17, 2020, at the age of 90.
